Service Alert Europe

Due to extreme, prolonged heatwave conditions across Southern and Western Europe specifically in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and parts of Central Europe we are anticipating potential disruptions to logistics and parcel delivery services throughout the coming week.

Meteorological forecasts indicate temperatures reaching 45°C and the occurrence of tropical nights (lows not dropping below 25°C). These conditions introduce the following risks to supply chain and delivery operations:

Delivery Delays: To ensure the safety of field personnel, couriers may be required to adopt restricted delivery windows or take mandatory rest breaks during peak heat hours (typically 12:00 – 17:00).

Infrastructure Stress: Increased strain on electrical grids may cause localized power outages, potentially affecting regional sorting centers and digital tracking systems.

Transport Vulnerabilities: Public transport and rail networks in affected regions are already reporting potential service fluctuations due to thermal expansion of tracks and infrastructure, which may impact last-mile courier routes.

Vehicle & Cargo Safety: High cabin temperatures may impact vehicle maintenance and the safety of heat-sensitive goods during transit.

Please advise clients and internal departments that standard delivery SLAs may be subject to delays in Southern/Western European countries.

We are prioritizing the health and safety of all logistics staff, please be patient with potential delays as we navigate these extreme weather conditions.

Our Carrier teams will continue to monitor regional weather warnings and carrier performance daily. Further updates will be issued if specific service routes are suspended or if widespread logistics bottlenecks are confirmed.
